Was just reading a really cool story about a guy by the name of Dan Woolley who was caught in the earthquakes of Haiti. He was trapped under some rubble for quite some time but with some help of some cool gadgets including the iPhone, he was able to keep himself alive.
While using his digital SLR as a flashlight, he found a semi half decent place to stay – an elevator shaft. While there he was able to use an iPhone app that showed him how to manage his wounds with various first aid techniques.
He also setup the iPhone’s alarm to go off every twenty minutes in order to keep himself awake in case he was going into shock.
A lot of people may dis the iPhone, but this story goes to show that it definitely has more uses than just a fancy phone. A lot of real world situations can benefit from an iPhone app.
